Where Sincerity Leads
Solo exhibition · KIKA cos, Kyoto, Japan · KYOTOGRAPHIE KG+ · 2025

誠実さの行方 — ‘Sincerity’ (EN) · ‘Samimiyet’ (TR) · ‘本物 (Honmono) / 誠実 (Seijitsu)’ (JP)
In an era where technology intertwines with daily life and artificial intelligence becomes a partner in human existence, the concept of sincerity finds itself in flux. Cultural and behavioral shifts brought on by digitalization challenge traditional notions of truth and authenticity. Adapted, partially adapted, or unadapted individuals navigate this evolving landscape, often struggling to discern sincerity in their interactions. But where does true sincerity reside?
Machines may operate in binary precision, crafting flawless calculations and models, but sincerity eludes such rigidity, finding its essence in the organic messiness of human life. Unlike binary precision, sincerity thrives in emotional ambiguity, where feelings resist categorization. In a world increasingly shaped by algorithms and artificial models, the question arises: can sincerity coexist with the clarity and structure of the digital age, or does it dissolve into nuanced chaos—the realm where contradictions coexist, where warmth and unpredictability create meaning beyond the algorithmic?
Through warmth—both literal, captured in thermal imagery, and metaphorical, expressed through emotional complexity—this exhibition explores sincerity’s shifting nature within the triad of human, machine, and nature. It invites viewers to question how sincerity adapts, transforms, and endures amidst the calculated precision of machines and the ever-changing rhythms of human interaction.
