Woman — A Fragment from the House of Creation
Two-channel video installation · Taksim Sanat, Istanbul · 2023

Woman — A Fragment from the House of Creation is a two-channel generative video installation exploring death and life, existence and non-existence, intimacy, procreation, continuity, and the creator and creation — narrating them through the contradictions inherent within them and the realisation that these opposites are, in fact, one.
It imbues the mythology it has created with the power of creation, the power of healing, life and abundance, all expressed in its own unique language. This structure is a fragment of remnants — spanning ages past and ages yet to come — existing within its own time. It is a part of woman.
It is a relic that, through the figure of woman, envisions a mythological existence and the magic, abundance and ecstasy such a life might bring; it conceives of past and future as one.
It attributes a historical power to figures ranging from Cybele to Demeter, Scheherazade and the contemporary woman — and even to entirely new, digital female entities — rendering this power enduring across all the eras to which they belong. It links her sacredness to time, the earth and powers we possess yet do not consciously recall. This connection is articulated through the female form — specifically through a fragment of the spine, the most resilient remnant she possesses.
